Growing Salem Grant

...a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:3

More Than I Could Have Ever Imagined

I thought I could do this blog thing about Salem fairly often, but boy was I wrong. Taking care of him is much more involved than I could have ever imagined.

I know Courtney does most of the work, but man! I never thought he'd need us as much as he does.

Throughout all of this, the love I have for my wife and child is way more than I could have ever imagined. I never though I was capable of loving, needing, and wanting two people so much (as much) as I do the two of them.

Guys, you think you love your wife now; have a child and see what happens. It's amazing. She gets more beautiful everyday. All the things she does seem more amazing and overwhelming. Your weaknesses will show and you're need for more of her love, support and help will be increased. You will find yourself staring at her for immeasurable amounts of time, and smiling without even being able to explain why you look so silly. You'll miss your favorite TV shows and movies just because she was in the room with you and you got distracted by her strength, beauty, willingness, servant hood, perfection,... AWESOMENESS!!!!

Thank you Jesus for giving me just a small glimpse of how much you love me.

Deduce, Induce, Reduce.

-Don't make any plans.
Well, not really, but if you do make plans, remember to be open to change, and then when your plans change (and they will) don't get too mad about it.

-Peace.
That helps the changing of plans go so much smoother. Is smoother a word? It kind of looks like smother, but we wouldn't want that would we. I digress. Well, no I don't. If you let an unforeseen situation bring you down, make you angry, send you into depression, you become "smothered" by circumstance. God is a god of order. "For I know the plans I have for you. Declares the Lord..."
Funny thing... When I just typed Lord. I accidentally typed "Love". I just thought I'd throw that in there.
Any who. His plans are better. His plans are more kind. His plans bring about Kingdom stuff. BTW, that's good stuff. Knowing that. Trusting that. That's peace.

-Grace/Mercy.
I think that's what God ultimately gives so that you'll have the aforementioned, Peace.
Nuff said.

Presently we're awaiting the arrival of our son, Salem Grant. Courtney goes in today at 3:30 pm for preparation for induction. He's past the due date, and they say he's a big boy, so I'm guessing that all of this is a good thing. I'm not too worried. Just a little anxious and eager at the same time. Still got the peace thing going for me.

After all is said and done, I'm pretty sure that life will seem extremely complex and overwhelming at times, but that's when the need to simplify comes in. We'll take a little time to adjust and think about what's really important. God and family. Courtney, and Salem are my ministry priorities. All else pales in comparison. Thank you, Father, for making me a father, and entrusting me with the ministry of family. May You receive all glory, honor and praise through this. That's what is most important.

Due Date. JOY!!!

Today is the due date for Salem Grant Wilkerson. I don't know if he'll come today, but when he does it will be amazing. Courtney, my wife, wishes he would have come a week ago. We trust in perfect timing. I haven't even seen him yet, and he already fills me up with joy.

-There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwell. Psalm 46:4

Salem, the Lord is already flowing through you. Making his Kingdom glad. I pray you know the love of God in your the depths of your heart even now.

-God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Psalm 46:5 (or break of water)

Courtney, you're gonna do great!!

Jesus, I'm so excited about all the things you're doing. I have no idea what's ahead, but I'm so in love with you. You have lavished everything within you upon me. I am your favorite!!!! Praise you God, that you have claimed me as your own. I can never know enough about you, and I can never stop loving you. I praise you for my wife. I bless your name for giving me a son. Teach me to raise your servant, my son, like you raised yours. Your Kingdom Come!!! Your Will be Done!!! Thank you for letting us be the instruments. AMEN!!!
